The Bongo of 2015 was in its seventeenth year of the fourth generation, the cabover van and truck designed by Mazda, withdrawn from the commercial vehicle field to concentrate on fuel efficient passenger cars. It was sold at Mazda dealers in Japan with the SK platform and the 1.8 liter L8 petrol engine introduced in August 2010. It also formed the basis for the long running Kia Bongo range. The Bongo was also known as the Ford Econovan and Eunos Cargo, and it has been built with rear, middle and front mounted engines.
