The Cadillac Cimarron is an entry-level luxury car manufactured and marketed by the Cadillac division of General Motors for the 1982 to 1988 model years over a single generation, with a mild facelift in 1985. It was the first post-war compact car offered by the brand, a four-door developed to compete with similarly sized premium sedans from European automakers in North America. The flagship of the GM J platform, it was marketed with counterparts from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick and became one of the most controversial examples of badge engineering in the American automotive industry, sharing much of its design with the Chevrolet Cavalier.
