The Aston Martin Lagonda is a full-size luxury four-door saloon made by Aston Martin between 1974 and 1990, 645 in all. Its name came from the Lagonda marque Aston Martin bought in 1947. There were two generations: a short-lived 1974 design on a lengthened Aston Martin V8, of which seven were sold, and the wedge-shaped Series 2 designed by William Towns and launched in 1976, with Series 3 and 4 following. It was the first production car with a digital instrument panel, and its electronics cost four times the budget of the rest of the car. A four-cam carburetted V8 and a Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic gave poor fuel economy. It was among the dearest luxury saloons in the world, and critics have called it one of the worst cars ever made.
