In 1986 the 302 V8 was revised to 150 horsepower following a redesign of the fuel injection system with the introduction of sequential multi port fuel injection. The Town Car sold over 100,000 vehicles per year at this point. It was the best selling Lincoln and a mainstay of fleet and livery service, and was assembled alongside the Continental and Mark VII at Wixom. The Town Car of the first generation used the Panther platform shared with Ford and Mercury.
