For the 2009 model year the Navigator's 5.4 liter V8 gained 10 horsepower as well as flex fuel capability, and Ford's own 6R80 six speed automatic replaced the ZF Friedrichshafen unit. The rearview camera that was new for 2008 became standard, as did heated second row seats, front park assist, a capless fuel filler, rain sensing wipers and Lincoln SYNC. Production began at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville as well. It was built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne and from 2009 also at Kentucky Truck in Louisville.
