In 2004, for the 2005 model year, the Navigator received a minor facelift with new square shaped foglights in place of the circular ones. The 5.4 liter DOHC V8 of 1999 was replaced by the 5.4 liter 3 valve SOHC V8 that had been in the F-150 since 2004, and the transmission became a ZF sourced six speed automatic. The 2005 Navigator's base curb weight fell to 5,555 pounds. It was a full size luxury SUV with a reworked chassis and independent rear suspension.
