For the 2002 model year the Navigator featured a molded Lincoln badge at the center of the steering wheel, as well as optional heated and cooled seats. It was the last year of the first generation, which was succeeded by a thoroughly redesigned model launched in May 2002 for the 2003 model year. The first generation had been a full size luxury SUV based on the Expedition. At launch its towing capacity was 7,700 pounds with the 5.4 liter Triton V8 and four speed automatic.
