For 1982 the Mark VI Signature Series underwent a revision, becoming available in any exterior and interior color offered for the Mark VI, and the Designer Series shuffled so that the Pucci edition moved from the coupe to the sedan. The 4 speed AOD overdrive transmission, introduced for 1980, was standard equipment on the Mark VI, lowering engine speeds and fuel consumption at highway speeds. It was built by Ford Motor Company and marketed by its Lincoln Mercury division.
