The 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan was in a year when total Lincoln production fell to 28,150, a drop of nearly 60 percent from 1949, as fastbacks rapidly went out of style after the war and after only 7,302 Town Sedans were ordered, the model did not return for 1950. In 1950, under President Truman, legend has it that he chose Lincoln for the presidential state car. The Cosmopolitan was the larger senior Lincoln with an exclusive body and wheelbase.
