The Series IIA began production in 1961. It was so little changed from the Series II that the two are very difficult to tell apart, the differences being minor cosmetic ones. The 2.25-litre diesel engine joined the range at the start of IIA production alongside a redesigned 2.25-litre petrol engine, the two sharing a cylinder block and other parts. The diesel produced 62 bhp. The bodies on offer ran from the short-wheelbase soft top to the five-door station wagon.
