1963 Land Rover Series

Automobiles

In 1963 the Australian Army took the Series 2a into service, and South Africa announced in August that fuel tanks and chassis for the Land Rover would be made locally at Port Elizabeth, the start of a steady rise in local content that reached 44 percent of vehicle weight by 1972. The Series IIA itself carried on in the form it had taken in 1961, a hardy and almost unchanged development of the Series II offered with petrol and diesel engines.
