The fifth-generation Discovery went on sale in Britain in February 2017 and in the United States as the plain Discovery again, replacing the LR name. In Europe it came with five seats, seven seats or as a commercial van. By the start of 2017 about 1.2 million Discoverys had been sold since 1989. The SVX version was shown at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, planned for sale in 2019, though the project was later cancelled. Production was in Britain at first.
