The 2014 Discovery came with the ZF eight-speed automatic as standard, and in some markets a one-speed transfer case in place of the two-speed unit. It was also the first year of a supercharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine in place of the earlier V6 and V8 offerings. A special XXV edition marked 25 years of the Discovery, with embossed leather seats and a long list of extras, and the Discovery Vision concept was shown at the New York show, previewing the next generation. A cheaper five-seat commercial went on sale in Ireland.
