From 1 January 2013 Jaguar Land Rover Limited took over the Land Rover assets and became responsible for the design, manufacture and marketing of the Defender, as Land Rover and Jaguar ceased to be separate vehicle-producing companies. The Defender was still the 2.2-litre Ford diesel with a six-speed gearbox. In the Falkland Islands, the Ministry of Defence sold off most of the Td5 Defender 110s bought for its Green Fleet in 2000 to 2002 to Military Motors Ltd in 2013.
