1999 Land Rover Defender

Automobiles

The 1999 X-Tech was a commercial-market special, a silver-painted 90 hard top with County-style seats, alloy wheels and window lights. In South Africa the BMW-engined 2.8i was changed part-way through the 1999 model year to the MY99 specification, with Td5-style electrics and gauges, an updated chassis, a BMW aluminium radiator and a new nylon fuel system. Karmann in Brazil began building Defenders from Land Rover kits in 1999, and went on doing so until 2006.
