The 1991 model year was when the badges changed, the Ninety and One Ten becoming the Defender 90 and Defender 110 with a Defender badge on the front and the full name on the back, to avoid confusion with the Discovery. In 1991 Italy's army took on the Defender 90 as the AR 90, a soft-top reconnaissance vehicle. The 200Tdi had by now taken the large majority of sales, apart from the British Army and some commercial buyers who stayed with the naturally aspirated diesel.
