The 1998 Wrangler TJ, in its second year, kept the circular headlights and coil spring suspension of the 1997 model. From 1996 to 2002 the side door mirrors were black metal framed units, and the 2.5 liter AMC four cylinder was still available on the entry level models. The TJ was sold with the 2.5 liter four cylinder and the 4.0 liter six cylinder in Sport, SE and Sahara trims, with the 4.0 standard on the Sport and the Sahara, which also had wider fender flares.
