The all new 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee went on sale in April 1992 in Base, Laredo and Limited trims, with rear wheel drive or four wheel drive. When it was introduced it had one powertrain, the AMC derived 4.0 liter Power Tech inline six producing 190 horsepower, and starting in early 1993 it was available with the 5.2 liter Magnum V8. A Grand Wagoneer model with standard four wheel drive, V8 power and faux woodgrain paneling became available in early 1993.
