Jeep CJ-5 (1972 American Motors revamp)

Automobiles

The 1972 revamp followed American Motors' purchase of Kaiser Jeep. AMC began fitting its own engines, which needed a longer wheelbase, longer fenders and hood and a new box frame with six cross members, and its Torque Command six replaced the base four, with the 304 V8 also available. The Dana 30 front axle was lighter and cut the turning circle, and a dealer radio and air conditioning arrived. Its model years run from 1972 to 1975.
