Air conditioning became available through dealers on the CJ-5 in 1975, and electronic breakerless distributors replaced the breaker point Delco distributors for the full engine line, with a catalytic converter added to models with the 304 V8. In 1975 AMC also prepared the changes to the tub and frame that would appear for the 1976 model year, so 1975 was the last year of the earlier tub in which tops fit from 1955.
