The Chief and Pioneer trims were last offered for the 1990 model year, with the Laredo, Sport and Limited continuing. The 1990 Cherokee was the seventh year of the single XJ generation that ran through 2001. The Chief and Pioneer, both offered from 1984, ended after the 1990 model year. Inside, the Laredo had luggage fabric upholstery from 1988 to 1992 with an optional Briarwood style leather and vinyl seat, and the Limited remained the top trim.
