1959 Imperial (1955 to 1983)

Automobiles

Production moved for 1959 from the Jefferson Avenue Assembly plant to an exclusive facility on Warren Avenue, and the car had a toothy new grille, revised side trim, an optional Silvercrest roof and optional swivel seats that turned forty degrees outward. The base model gained the Imperial Custom name, and the Hemi gave way to a cheaper 413 cubic inch wedge head V8 with more power and less weight. Imperial built 17,710 cars, ahead of Lincoln as Packard withdrew from the market.
