In 2014 the second generation Honda HR-V reached several markets. In China, Guangqi Honda revealed the Vezel in October 2014, and Dongfeng Honda issued its own version, the XR-V, in November 2014. Thailand started selling the HR-V on 17 November 2014, Indonesia saw a prototype at its 22nd International Motor Show on 18 September 2014, and Europe first saw it that same month as the HR-V Prototype. The North American model first appeared as a concept at the New York International Auto Show of 2014.
