The first production EV Plus came off the line at Takanezawa in April 1997, after Honda assembled a prototype in December 1995 and approved production in January 1996. The EV Plus tested advanced battery chemistry in an electric car and also met the zero emission vehicle requirements of the California Air Resources Board, as the General Motors EV1 did. This page belongs to the Honda EV Plus (single generation), 1997 to 1999 model years; the generation page and the Honda EV Plus model page link to the other model years, so the changes of neighbouring years can be read in order.
