The 1995 Honda CR-V was the first model year, launched in Japan in October 1995 as Honda's first sport utility vehicle designed in house, with Hiroyuki Kawase as designer. Only Honda Verno and Honda Primo dealerships sold it in Japan, and because its width went beyond the 1,700 mm limit of the compact car rules it carried a costlier yearly road tax. Early CR-Vs shared their platform with the Civic. The sources used for this page record no other change specific to this model year.
