Honda produced the third-generation Civic for the years 1983 to 1987, unveiling it in September 1983 as a 1984 model. Its wheelbase grew by two to five inches, and one platform supported a three-door hatchback, a four-door sedan, the five-door Shuttle wagon and the sporting CR-X coupe, each with largely different body panels. At launch it took the Car of the Year Japan Award. It brought the Si badge to Japan in 1984 and to the United States by 1985 through the CRX Si, and its wagon gained four-wheel drive in 1985. Each of its four model years has its own page.
