The second-generation Honda Civic debuted in June 1979 and was produced until 1983, with a more angular shape, more power and larger dimensions than the first generation. Its design was closer to the larger Accord, and the car was more comfortable and sophisticated. A three-box four-door sedan joined the range, sold in Japan as the Honda Ballade and made under licence in Britain as the Triumph Acclaim, and a three-speed automatic replaced the two-speed Hondamatic. This site lists its North American model years as 1980 to 1983, and the 1979 model year page records the overlap with the end of the first generation. Each model year has its own page.
