The Subaru Elten was a concept hybrid four-wheel-drive hatchback shown at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show; its name is a contraction of electric and K10, the development code of the Subaru 360. It had one driver-side door and two passenger-side doors and was meant as a successor to the 360, taking design elements from it such as a similar grille and headlights. At 3,410 mm long, 1,500 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall with a 2,260 mm wheelbase and a weight of 960 kg, it combined a 658 cc four-cylinder petrol engine with a 30 kW electric motor through an eCVT, with batteries under the floor charged by the engine, regenerative braking and solar panels on the roof. The design was later scrapped for a different model.
