The Simca 6 was a small city car and light van that Simca built and sold in France from 1947 to 1950. It was developed from the Simca 5, itself a French-built Fiat Topolino, but Simca's own Nanterre design office gave it an Americanised front end with a wide, low grille and headlights set into the wings, and a short boot that could be reached only from inside the car. Its 569 cc overhead-valve engine made 16.5 horsepower, enough for an advertised 90 or 95 kilometres an hour, and it was thrifty, covering 108 kilometres on five litres of fuel. A two-seat coupé style body and a van carrying up to 250 kilograms were offered. More than 16,000 were made, but it was not a commercial success, and the larger Simca 8 took over the small end of the range.
