Opel Flextreme

Automobiles

The Opel Flextreme is a diesel plug-in hybrid concept small family hatchback that Opel created in 2008. It shares the GM E-Flex series hybrid platform with the Chevrolet Volt but uses a diesel rather than a petrol engine. The car can travel 55 kilometres on its lithium-ion battery before a small diesel engine starts charging the battery. It has a five-door hatchback body with five seats and a front engine. In January 2008 a rebadged version of the concept was introduced at the North American International Auto Show as the Saturn Flextreme. Opel expected it to emit 40 grams of CO2 per km or less and to use approximately 1.54 litres per 100 km.
