BMW 3/15

Automobiles

The 3/15 was BMW's first car, an Austin 7 built under licence at Eisenach, produced in its first version as the Dixi between 1927 and 1929 and then, after BMW bought the Eisenach business in October 1928, in three versions as BMWs from July 1929 until March 1932, when BMW gave up the licence. The name comes from a taxable rating of 3 PS and about 15 PS of actual output. 9,307 Dixi 3/15s and 18,976 BMW 3/15s were made, and the DA-3 Wartburg was BMW's first sports car. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the DA-1 (1927 to 1929); the DA-2 (1929 to 1931); the DA-4 (1931 to 1932).
