1989 Honda CR-X

Automobiles

Seatbelts moved to the doors on the Si and base Honda CRX for 1989, to meet federal rules, a change that came from the automatic seatbelt requirement, and the Si gained power, from 105 bhp in 1988 to 108 bhp, through a revised camshaft. Honda added the 1.6 liter 16 valve DOHC VTEC B16A engine to the lineup outside North America in September 1989, making 160 PS in the Japanese SiR, and the CRX took a class podium finish at the 1989 Spa 24 Hours.
