In April 1962 Ford replaced the Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac range with a dramatically restyled model, which shared some mechanical components and the basic chassis design with the Mark II models. Rather than continue the Consul name, Ford UK called the four cylinder replacement the Zephyr 4, with a 1,703 cc engine and a four speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on all ratios. The Zephyr 6 and Zodiac followed. Its model years run from 1962 to 1965.
