In late 1982 the well equipped Transit Ghia was introduced in some markets, only as a nine seat bus, and in 1982 a four wheel drive version was added to the German market, called the SIRA Ford Transit. The Mark II continued to be made in Southampton in England and Genk in Belgium, with a range of Pinto petrol engines and York diesel engines, after the Amsterdam closure of 1981. Hyundai in South Korea had also built a Transit based van until 1981.
