By 1980 the Transit Mark II was in its third year, with a range of engines from the Pinto petrol to the York diesel, and in Australia the locally built 4.1 liter six cylinder. It was built in Southampton and Genk, with Amsterdam building vans for the Netherlands. The Mark II would stay in production until 1985, with the 1984 direct injection York diesel the main engineering change before the VE6 arrived in January 1986.
