In 2012 Ford expanded operations in China, allowing its production capacity there to expand to 300,000 vehicles, as it sold the New Transit beside the Jiangling built Transit Classic. The Chinese Transit was given a facelift for the 2013 model year onward with new headlights and taillights. In Europe the Transit was in its last full year before the Southampton plant closed in 2013, ending British production.
