The facelifted Transit, the V347 and V348, won International Van of the Year for 2007 despite tough competition from several all new rivals. Late in 2007 Ford launched a 140 PS engine for front wheel drive, replacing the 130 PS, with the VMT6 six speed manual transaxle to cope with the extra power. The Transit arrived in Mexico to replace the Freestar after the 2007 model year. Ford built the stretch limousine style Transit XXL to celebrate the award.
