The Thunderbird received an extensive mid cycle refresh for 1994, with changes to the powertrain and exterior, additional safety features and a total redesign of the interior to take dual front airbags. The most notable change was the new 4.6 liter Modular SOHC V8, of 205 horsepower, which replaced the 5.0 liter small block. The Super Coupe continued with its supercharged 3.8 liter V6, now at 230 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
