The 1985 cars lost their grille in favor of one wide horizontal air slot in the nose. The GT received new cylinder heads, a revised Holley four barrel carburetor, a roller camshaft with the manual transmission and a pseudo dual exhaust, and was rated at 210 horsepower, the last carbureted V8 the Mustang would have. The L and the Turbo GT were dropped, leaving LX, GT and SVO, and the SVO was uprated to 205 horsepower halfway through the year. Hagerty calls the first 200 horsepower Mustang the end of the Malaise era.
