1981 Ford Mustang

Automobiles

The optional Traction-Lok limited slip differential first appeared in 1981 and could be fitted with any Mustang powertrain. The weak 255 cubic inch V8 stayed on as the only V8 for a second year, and the unreliable turbocharged four cylinder remained an option in the United States only through the 1981 calendar year, though it stayed on sale in Canada. The Cobra package ran for its last year, its black trim and engine turned dash bezels carried over from 1979.
