The Maverick was introduced on 17 April 1969 as a 1970 model at the very competitive price of 1,995 dollars, and its styling had the long hood, fastback roof and short deck made popular by the Mustang, on a 103 inch wheelbase, with pop out rear side windows. Paint colors had pun names such as Anti-Establish Mint and Hulla Blue. Two sixes were offered at first, a 170 and a 200 cubic inch, and a 250 added mid year. Nearly 579,000 were produced.
