For the 2008 model year anti lock brakes and tire pressure monitoring became standard on the Fusion, and two new packages were added to the options list. In Brazil the Fusion became the highest selling car in its class in 2008. The car was built at the Hermosillo Stamping and Assembly plant in Sonora, Mexico, alongside the Lincoln MKZ and the Mercury Milan, with which it shared the CD3 platform. The Fusion was positioned between the compact Focus and the full size Taurus.
