For 2002 the Lincoln-Mercury division introduced the Lincoln Blackwood, the first pickup truck ever sold by the Lincoln brand, a variant of the F-150 SuperCrew brought into production after a positive reception of a 1999 concept vehicle. For the Lightning, True Blue, a very dark blue, was introduced as a color for 2002. The Lightning was built by Ford of Canada in Oakville, Ontario. The Blackwood was built on the SuperCrew body of the F-150.
