The F-150 was introduced for 1975. This truck was designed with a heavier gross vehicle weight rating, over 6,000 pounds, and a maximum payload, as a higher payload version of the F-100. The F-150 would in time become the entry level F-Series. The sixth generation was already well established, in the third year of the dentside body that had a chassis derived from 1965 and a split grille with the headlamps in it.
