The new Ford trucks were introduced in late 1947 and went on sale on 16 January 1948, with the pickup badged as the F-1. They had wider, longer and taller cabs than before, a heater with no defroster, and running boards that curved over the frame and under the cab. Standard features included an ashtray, glove box and a driver side sun visor, which was unusual for trucks then, and a See-Clear windshield washer worked by a foot plunger was an option.
