For 1993 Ford introduced the Explorer Limited as a luxury trim, offered only as a five door and placed above the Eddie Bauer, aimed at the Oldsmobile Bravada and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It had a monochromatic exterior, with a color matched grille, headlamp trim and bumpers, and its own alloy wheels. The 4.0 liter V6 output rose to 160 horsepower that year, and Mazda continued to sell the Explorer Sport as the Navajo.
