The refreshed Explorer for the 2016 model year debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2014, with a redesigned front fascia, hood and lower bumper, standard LED low beam headlights and fog lamps inspired by the thirteenth generation F-150. For 2014 itself the car was the unibody SUV launched in 2011, built at Chicago, in XLT, Limited and Sport forms with a choice of V6 and a turbocharged four. The facelift followed for the next model year.
