The 2002 model year had no major cosmetic or mechanical changes and was the last year of the UN93 first generation, and the last year for the XLT No Boundaries and Eddie Bauer Premier trims. The redesigned second generation Expedition was unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in January and launched in May 2002 for the 2003 model year. The all new model followed with the new independent rear suspension.
