Ford retired the E Series passenger and cargo vans after the 2014 model year and replaced them with the Ford Transit. In June 2014 van production ended as sales of the Transit began in North America, and in May 2014 the last 4.6 litre V8 was built for the E Series. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014.
