The Del Rey was introduced in 1981 as the flagship of Ford's Brazilian range, taking over from the Landau and from the dearer versions of the popular Corcel II. It had a more upright roofline and a more square front design, and a four door sedan body that the Corcel II had not had. It ran on either petrol or ethanol and was replaced by the Versailles, a Volkswagen Santana based car. The Del Rey was a large family car that Ford built in Brazil, based on the Corcel II and sold under the Belina name as a wagon.
